3rd October 2025 marked the exciting start of our Baby-Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) staff training, a critical milestone in our journey toward accreditation. We were privileged to have Dr. Wasswa T. Joseph kick-start our training sessions, equipping our team with essential knowledge and skills in areas such as breastfeeding support, counselling on infant feeding choices, skin-to-skin care, rooming-in, safe handling and storage of expressed breast milk, and effective family-centred communication.

The training is a vital part of our commitment to ensure every mother and baby receives safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care, creating a nurturing environment where families feel supported at every step of their journey. By investing in our staff’s expertise, we are laying the foundation for consistent, high-quality maternal and newborn care across the hospital.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Peter Kibuuka, our CEO, and the entire management team for their visionary leadership and unwavering drive behind this initiative. Their guidance and support enable Kampala Hospital to continue setting the standard in maternal and newborn health in the region.

Through dedication, teamwork, and continuous learning, we are shaping a future where every baby has the healthiest possible start in life and every mother feels empowered, informed, and valued. This is more than a policy or programme—it is a culture of care that touches every family who walks through our doors.
